What is the best thing I can do under one minute to prepare for a public speech?

Focus and Refocus:

This is a great question and one that really depends on where you are in your public speaking experience. Almost all of my clients tell me that it’s the first few moments of the speech that are the most challenging for them. So, in the moments before you go on, focus and refocus. Look around the room and remind yourself that everyone there wants you to do your best. Change your perception from fear to faith with a positive mantra: “They want me to succeed” or “Let my message work through me”. Take the focus off yourself and put it onto your message.
