How to stop mumbling. We talked about the lower jaw. Now let’s talk about the lips. These lips have power. Say that word. Power. Now say it really exploding that P sound. Power.

Try saying the tongue twister “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.” We’ll make it short we’ll say, “Peter Piper picked a peck.” Try saying it without using your lips “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.” Well, doesn’t really come out, doesn’t really work, does it?

But how many of you out there don’t really bring your lips together to make your explosive sounds? By bringing your lips together on your P’s and your B’s or really using your lips on your vowel sounds. You start to create tone, you start to create passion, you start to bring power. Powerful plosives, FYI that’s what the P and the B sounds among a few others are called, they’re called plosives because they explode.

Use your lips to explode your sounds. Use your lips around your vowels to have some forward movement with your vowels and you’ll find that you have a much better tone, much more powerful voice and a much more commanding presence.
